Trump: Jesus Christ Super Star? Or Antichrist?

TRUMP WAS SUPPOSED TO BE JESUS CHRIST SUPER STAR ON THE ECONOMY

Trump was elected by Americans who wanted the border protected, crime under control and the economy to be booming again. Voters specifically voted for Trump thinking he would be the best president for our economy. They overlooked the nastiness of Trump, his corruption, his lawlessness, his mean spirited vows of vengeance against anyone who crossed him or wanted him to face consequences, his weaponization of politics, and his many unchristian acts including his many violations of Jesus’ teachings about how the rich are unlikely to make it to heaven and the need for Christians to care about and help out the least among us and even his violations of some of the ten Commandments.

After a bullet nicked his ear, Trump was hailed by his supporters as a mythical redeemer, a Christ-like figure destined to save America. Once in office, however, Trump moved rapidly to assert himself as a dictator-in-chief, and wreck our government using Musk and DOGE as his sword and shield. He installed a virtual ship of fools as his cabinet and took a meat cleaver to an economy that had been the “envy of the world” until he took office and trashed it.

Far from getting the country Americans believed they would get with Trump, they are instead getting a border where NO foreigner would even want to vacation in America (a 90 billion dollar loss for the tourist industry), where the corrupt are in control of the government (Peter Navarro and Charles Kushner have been convicted of crimes and many of the wealthy people surrounding Trump and now in cabinet posts have conflicts of interest- Trump got rid of 17 of the watch dog IGs who report corrupt activity in government), and where the economy is rapidly deteriorating because of what Trump alone is doing to it.

Trump supporters should be asking themselves this question: Were we fooled? Did we fall for a con? Because this man is not Jesus Christ Super Star. Could he be the Antichrist?

In the Book of Revelation, the Antichrist is often depicted as a powerful figure, often associated with the beast from the sea, who opposes Christ and his teachings. He is presented as a deceiver who claims to be the Messiah and will lead the world astray before being defeated by Jesus at the end of the world.

It suffers a fatal head wound which is miraculously healed, bewildering the world’s population and causing many to worship it.

To buy and sell, everyone is required to have its name or number on their forehead or right hand (Rev 13:16-17).

It speaks blasphemous words against God,

and will rule the world for 42 months (Revelation 13:5-7)

There are some curious and thought provoking parallels between Trump and the prophecy in Revelations about the antichrist.

Let’s see….Who survived being shot in the head in Butler, PA?

Who is forcing every buyer or seller in the world to kowtow to his tariffs?

Who is instituting rules that defy law and the constitution?

Just sayin…

HE’S WORSE THAN PREDICTED

For anyone who has or had doubts about whether Trump would really be as bad, as vicious, as mean, unchristian and as much of a wrecking ball as people feared he could be or thought he could be or worried he might be- your doubts and fears have been resoundingly answered. Yes. He is all of the above and then some.

Let me be one of the first to say I told you so. I have been writing about the danger of Trump since before he was elected in 2016. Too many people did not understand the danger or minimized it. And too many people have wanted to benefit from Trump’s power and his promised tax cuts.

It’s almost Easter and it sure looks like we got an antichrist who rose up from the dead, you students of religious prophecy. This is a moment not to rejoice because the end of times is near, but to reflect on how seriously stupid, arrogant and short sighted we have been in this country and still are. Trump “rose from the dead” in the sense that he was heading for prison after his attack on our democracy and violations of law, but used his influence to play his “get out of jail free card”. He returned to power and is now tormenting the whole world with his arrogant lawlessness, his meanness, sadism and the imposition of HIS will on everyone and everything.

Let’s see…. so far there are his tariffs imposed on every country in the world, especially China, the end of protective regulations for Americans, attacks on the social safety net including social security, undermining Health and Human Services, the IRS, NOAA, the FAA, his plan to kidnap American citizens who say things he doesn’t like and whisk them away to prisons in El Salvador without due process, his attack on our research universities, law firms, and the free press, and his refusal to obey the Supreme Court and I’m just getting started.

That refusal to obey the Court (he is knowingly “misreading” the 9 to 0 decision of the Supreme Court that told him to “facilitate” the return of Abrego-Garcia to the US to exercise his due process rights) has gotten us to the constitutional showdown we knew was coming- we just didn’t know WHEN it was coming. It’s here, sports fans.

Trump is sure looking more and more like a kind of antichrist or maybe the Joker wreaking havoc on the world. The resistance to him and his administration is rising up from some remarkable and unexpected places– the stock market and bond market are causing investors to flee the US as a reliable place to invest in as the value of the dollar declines. There are many angry Trump supporters out there who understand the danger now that they have been unfairly fired from their government jobs, Trump friendly bloggers (including Joe Rogan) who realize what the Abrega-Garcia lack of due process case endangers especially young men of color, and suburban Republicans who went to Harvard or Yale or another Ivy League school who are appalled by his attack on their alma maters, as well as farmers and small business owners who will lose their businesses because of Trump’s tariffs, and women who understand that their freedom of choice over their own bodies is more at risk now than they ever thought possible in the 21st century.

Perhaps most important is that fact based markets are not subject to revisionist thinking or going to conform to Trump’s alternate universe propaganda. The markets are flashing red and they are doing so as a direct result of  Trump’s economic ineptitude. Trump might have been the Jesus Christ Super Star darling of the wealthy investor class when he got elected, but he is rapidly ruining his brand. Maybe people will believe it now when they hear how he mismanaged his companies into bankruptcy. He was never the great businessman they pretended he was on The Apprentice. I rest my case.

THE ECONOMIST: TRUMP DAMAGES THE DOLLAR

Stocks down, yields down, dollar up. A reliable relationship between America’s listed companies, government bonds and the value of the currency has held, in moments of panic, for most of modern financial history. Until now.

The turmoil in financial markets over the past month, driven by an extraordinary rise in American tariffs, has been unsettlingly different. During the stock market slumps of 2008 and 2020, for instance, the dollar rose. When investors are fearful, they normally rush to the safety of American debt, bidding up the greenback in the process. This time round, investors are eschewing Treasuries. Yields on American ten-year government bonds, which rise when prices fall, have increased from 4.2% to as high as 4.5% over the past month. Meanwhile, the dollar has fallen by over 9% against a basket of other currencies since its peak in mid-January.

The breakdown of the once-solid relationship reflects the impulsiveness of the current American government. President Donald Trump’s belligerent trade policy, his administration’s incompetent policymaking and some of his advisers’ suspicion about the dollar’s global role have shaken foreign investors. Since they hold some $32trn-worth of American stocks and bonds, their opinion matters.

I am eager to see how the Republican donor class reacts to the wreck their guy is making of our once strong economy. These people are losing billions of dollars instead of getting richer. The worse it gets, the more likely it will be that these guys will exert pressure on the Republican congressional representatives they own, and demand that they get Trump on a leash if they want to keep their jobs.

If that happened, it would be a very good development for anyone… at least anyone who is not Donald Trump.
