If you are sick and tired of Trump and the MAGAs, you have company. A lot of Americans are sick of this show. Including many who voted for Trump three times.

Want to tell Trump you don’t like what he is doing to your wallet, to the country, to our allies, to our military, health care system?  You have a chance to do that this midterm election. Go ahead, give America an early Thanksgiving by making this midterm election a rebuke of Trump and the MAGA Republican Party.

Polling tells us Trump is deeply disliked. Most Americans have had it with Trump.

Every single poll has Trump down on all of the major issues Americans care about.

Nate Silver writes: Donald Trump has yet again hit an all-time approval rating low of net -23. As of today, his net approval is sitting at -22.7. This far into his first term, Trump was all the way up at -11.0, while Joe Biden was at net -8.8 at the same point in his presidency.

Sure, polls are not always trustworthy these days since getting accurate information relies on whether people answer their phones. Who answers a cell phone call from a stranger? I sure don’t. And if the callers are using old relic land lines, the most likely people answering will be older Americans who still have landlines and the time and inclination to answer a call from someone they do not know. Pollsters try to weight answers they get from certain demographics when they have not been able to reach as many people who represent that group, but amplifying results from a too small group is not always going to get you an accurate read of that fuller demographic.

The idea that Trump and the MAGAs are finally losing steam, however, is borne out in other ways. There are many other indicators.

PRIMARY ENERGY FOR THE DEMS

First, primary votes cast by each party favors the Democrats over the Republicans. The reason we want to factor in how many people actually got themselves to the polls to vote is because it tells us about the state-by-state energy level voters in that state have for each party.

Here are the primary vote tallies in the battleground states:

In Texas, 2.32 M Democrats voted. 2.17 M GOP votes.

North Carolina: 828K Dems/ 627 K GOP

Ohio: 797K Dems / 821K GOP

GA: 1.08 M Dems/ 934K GOP

IA: 192 K Dems/ 207 K GOP

MI: 1. 50M Dems/ 932K GOP

NH: 156K Dems / 114K GOP

Overall, in the 2026 primaries, 56% of the voters were Democrats and 44% were Republicans. The Democratic energy surge of primary voters beats out the Republican voters in every state except Iowa and Ohio which were very close.

MAGA INFLUENCERS ABANDON TRUMP

The Wall Street Journal used AI to research what MAGA influencers are talking about. Are they still all in on Trump?

The Wall Street Journal analyzed nearly 70,000 hours of podcasts to understand the topics that conservative podcasters—some of whom helped propel Donald Trump to victory in 2024—are talking about, and what has fallen out of the conversation. The analysis captures the political mood in key corners before crucial midterm elections in November. Mentions of Trump’s name per hour on conservative podcasts have fallen nearly 70% from their peak in the run-up to the 2024 election.

THE COST OF LIVING AFFECTING ESPECIALLY YOUNGER VOTERS

According to an AP/NORC poll released yesterday, 65% of adult respondents believe President Donald Trump is to blame for their cost-of-living concerns. Earlier this week, a key indicator of consumer confidence fell to its lowest point in a decade.

Young voters — and young men in particular — have also grown disillusioned with the Trump administration amid cost of living concerns, a warning sign for the GOP. Among those under the age of 25 who say the cost of living is the worst it’s ever been, 56% say they trust Democrats to bring down the costs. Just 20% trust Republicans to do the same.

Young men were part of the coalition that got Trump re-elected along with Hispanic voters and independents who have also soured on Trump and the MAGAs.

TRUMP’S RALLY IN ALABAMA WAS A BUST

President Donald Trump found himself in a humiliating scene after failing to fill a small arena in the heart of the Deep South for one of his rallies. He spoke against a backdrop of empty seats at The Mitchell Center in Mobile, Alabama, on Friday—a 10,041-seat arena that had entire rows behind the president empty as he tried to drum up support for Republicans ahead of the midterms.

Back in the day when Trump first ran for office, he packed a stadium of 30,000 in Alabama. No longer.

As Heather Cox Richardson notes:

[Trump] promised to bring back jobs, bring back the military, take care of veterans, and be a cheerleader for the country. He boasted he was worth more than $8 billion, promising that he could make the country as successful as he was. He promised to “Make America Great Again,” and in August 2015, more than 30,000 Alabamians turned out to see him at the start of what would be a rise to the presidency of the United States.

As journalist McCreesh reported, Trump’s return to Mobile tonight had a wistful feel. The stadium where he spoke was nowhere near the size of the football stadium of 2015, and even so, it was not full. McCreesh noted that some of the upper sections were almost entirely empty.

MAKE THIS ELECTION TOO BIG TO RIG

Republicans are quietly acknowledging behind closed doors that they are going to lose control of the majority in the House and maybe also the Senate. The one thing standing in the way of a blue wave are efforts to lie, cheat and steal the next election. The answer to a rigged red election is this: the election of Democrats needs to be too big to rig. If the electorate rises up to rebuke Trump and the MAGAs in large numbers, efforts to pretend Trumpy candidates won will not win in our courts and that’s probably where any close election is bound to be finally determined.

Thank goodness our courts are still fact based and mainly stocked with justices who still believe in the rule of law even when they were appointed by Trump. With the exception of the Supreme Court, we have a judiciary that is upholding our democracy and is not living in Trump’s alternate universe where he is king of everything and what he says is the reality.

Nope. It ain’t.

Time to remind everyone which Americans are the majority in our country. Spoiler Alert.  It’s not Trump or the MAGAs.
